Washington D.C. Trip

The 9th grade class trip to Washington D.C. this year was from November 2nd-November 8th. Fifty eight students plus chaperones attended this year's trip. The students had great weather at Gettysburg as they toured the battlefield and had a lesson on cannons. Students also explored Little Round Top and had their picture taken in front of the 1st MN Regiment statue. Some highlights of the trip included a day and night tour of the monuments, including the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorial, Washington monument, WWII, Korean, and Vietnam memorials. The students also toured Mount Vernon, attended a play at the Kennedy Center, and toured Ford’s theater. Students made stops at the Smithsonian American History and Natural History museums and had a wonderful lunch at the Department of Agriculture cafeteria. The students walked the National Mall and visited The White House, U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, and the Supreme Court. Finally, the last day of the trip included Arlington cemetery, where students watched the Changing of the Guard and a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The students would like to thank the Goodhue local organizations that helped make this trip possible.
