Construction Project Update:

Exciting work continues to happen with the facility project at Goodhue Schools. The facility design committee met on February 27. At this meeting, the architect team from LSE reviewed plans for construction, renovation, and demolition. The architect team also met with groups of teachers, paras, custodians, food service, and office staff on March 5 to review plans for the project. Input was gathered from the groups and will be utilized in designing the various spaces in the school.

The project oversight committee continues to meet on a regular basis with our project managers from ICS and our architects from LSE to ensure that the scope of the project is being followed. This means that the plans and areas of emphasis that were presented to district voters are being designed into the project. The project oversight committee also reviews the project budget and the project schedule.

The design process will be completed in October. The board will approve the design and issuance of bids for the project in November. Bids will be approved in December with construction to start sometime in the winter or spring of 2020. In early planning on the project, a two bid process was considered. This involved starting work earlier on the gym and classroom addition portions of the project. The project oversight committee decided against this due to the costs associated with a winter project along with the positive aspects of bidding the entire project in one bidding process. It is important to note that the project completion date for August 2021 was the same with either the one bid or two bid planning process.

If you have any questions about the project, please contact Superintendent Evan Gough at 651-923-4447.
